Murghab to Osh, (2/X); 7th July
7th July — arriving in Karakol
Left yurt camp after the host started the fire in the yurt, and used the stove to make some Choi (milky tea) and black tea — I had wanted to see the yak’s in the morning, but they had been moved on to graze somewhere else.

The road was not too bad, potholed, rutted and washboarded in some places only.
It was a largely flat route to Karakol. Karakol is a bit of a ghost town — it’s close to the border with Kazakhstan, but since the border between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan is only open to tourists, due to conflict between the two countries military a few years ago, it means there is very little passing traffic in the town — in fact, pretty much only tourists.

The lake however is very beautiful.
We stayed in the other hotel owned by the guy from Alichur. Similar to the one in Alichur, it also had a banya, which we got to try in the evening.
