Langar to Alichur, (2/X); 30th June
30th June
Matteage wasn’t feeling very well so couldn’t do the walk to Engels Meadow unfortunately.
We left around 8 and using a combination of Maps.Me which marked the path very well, and Jan Bakker’s book, we made it up to the meadow.
I misjudged the scale of the map in the book, which meant we were off the path for the first hour or so, but after scrambling back to the path it was an easy climb the rest of the route.
Unfortunately I lost the bottle cap for the SeaBass cycles water bottle which Alan bought me as a gift before leaving, when refilling water, which was very annoying. I think it dropped in the irrigation channel.
When we finally got to the meadow we were met with a spectacular, imposing view — an idyllic meadow with massive Engles Peak serving as the backdrop, with a glacier just about visible in the distance.

There were some very friendly cows out here, one of whom came over to say hello and ask for food. We waved to the shepherds who spend their summers up there as we left.
