Long climbing day. At the top of the pass, we met Guilleaume (last met in Khorog), who had been joined by his dad also on a motorbike. His plans had changed as he was having issues with his motorbike and had to get it serviced in Osh.

He was scrapping going into Mongolia, and decided to head back to Osh and leave the motorbike there, with the hope of returning in 2025 to continue the trip. (I later heard from him that night that the motorbike stopped working shortly after we met, and they had to flag down a flatbed lorry to get it back to Osh. They had given us their water when we met -- turned out they needed it more than we did as they were stuck for a bit waiting for a lift)

We had been planning to stay at homestay but turned off to see a campspot. It was close to a footpath, so not an ideal spot, and we regretted not going to the homestay initially.
I was worried about passer by’s as we were close to a footpath. One guy who had been fishing walked up to me and shook my hand with Akuda, brat (where are you from, brother?), which put me at ease.
