Gaziantep - Istanbul (bus); 28th September
29th September
After returning to Gaziantep from Şanlıurfa, we bought tickets for an overnight bus to Istanbul.
We said goodbye to Gokan and his family, who had helped us with settling in after the crash, as well as arranging the taxi to the Gaziantep bus stop.
After an enjoyable experience taking the bus from Kars to Diyarbakir, as well as from Gaziantep to Şanlıurfa, I was actually looking forward to the ride from Gaziantep to Istanbul; leaving in the evening and arriving around noon the next day.
However, it was a unpleasant journey. The bus was full, and the ticket attendant had given us the two seats right at the very back, despite indicating our seats would be a few in front. This meant any bumps over the road were transmitted right up through where we were sitting.
But worst was the fact that the seats seem to have been infested with bed bugs. Throughout the entire journey I was scratching and itching my arms and lower back as angry red bite marks appeared. There wasn't anything the bus attendants could do as the bus was full.
