The condition of the road deteriorated significantly, and the gradient was also very challenging — steep up hills, followed by the downhill, then uphill again. One section of road was washed out, so they’d blocked it — not passable to cars but doable by bike. 

Every so often there are basins being filled up with water coming off the mountain, where we can refill water and also dip our heads — very refreshing as it’s not hot — up to 30C in the afternoon.
