Peschiera - Rivalta
Yesterday being a national holiday means that this is a holiday weekend. We leave our hotel sometime after ten and head for Peschiera's waterfront. Even before we get there the streets are clogged with cars. The streets in town that we walk our bikes through are no better. In spite of the grey and cool morning, everyone is out. Our plan is to get out of there as fast as possible. Lake Garda is kind of familiar territory for us since it's not a long drive from Munich and over the years we have made many visits to the lovely towns here. So it is no great loss today.

The traffic is really heavy. Even when we get out of Peschiera into the countryside, there are still plenty of cars on small lanes. I wonder where everyone is going. No blue sky this morning but it doesn't rain either, and the views are lovely.

About midway our routes takes us on a stiff climb with a couple of switchbacks and then down to the valley of the Adige. Our bikes are good climbers but when cars force you onto the inside of a steep hairpin it can get uncomfortable.
Once we are on the Adige Valley bike path we see few bikers, there are no more signs of the holiday crowds. The views to the mountains to either side are fantastic.
It was a great day on a section of the Adige Bike Path that I have wanted to ride for a long time.
Today's ride: 43 km (27 miles)
Total: 1,116 km (693 miles)
