Bergerac to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil
From famous wines to prehistory
After some very good croissants and confitures (and very good yogurt), we found our way out of Bergerac and onto quiet roads, though in a couple of places they weren't "roads" in the modern sense. We even went right past Domaine de Haut-Pécharmant, the source of last night's wine!

We arrived in Ste-Alvère just before its sole boulangerie closed and bought the last 3 "pizzas". They were each a half of a half of a baguette with tomato sauce, cheese, and olives, and were absolutely delicious. We ate them in a park that was the site of the château of the village that had been torn down in 1793.
Back on our bikes, we continued past Le Bugue to Les Eyzies and our accommodation for the next 3 nights. There's plenty to see here and the first thing tomorrow will be to get in line for admission to Font de Gaume. It's our only chance as it's closed on Saturdays. Wish us luck!
Today's ride: 57 km (35 miles)
Total: 179 km (111 miles)
