To Dijon: Canal de Bourgogne
We took the easy way to Dijon today along the canal. We rode pretty much straight to Dijon so we could be there by lunchtime because we wandered time to wander Dijon given that we are only here for one night. The ride a long the canal de Bourgogne was delightful and almost completely flat or slightly downhill. In a bygone era mules were used to tow barges up the canal and now the track is a paved multi use pathway. Along the way we watch a chartered barge enter and leave a lock. We chatted with the guests who hailed from Russia. We also stopped part way at a 5* hotel, the Abbaye de la Bussière on the Ouche River. It was a lovely setting but a very expensive coffee stop. Once back on the trail we rode to Dijon for a late lunch and a wander. I plan to get up early to wander some more, before the market and before we head out on our final ride.
