Ban San Chao Por to Ban Khlong
The road to Kaoh Yai was undulating and we battled a strong headwind for most of the way. We took it easy because we thought that there would be no point in rushing to get to a guesthouse because, being a weekend, we would not be able to book in early. However, when we eventually got to Baan Meesap Guesthouse, it was pretty much empty. The road was also very quiet with little sign of the weekend visitors from Bangkok that we were expecting.
We passed a lovely little manmade lake on the way where did a bit of birdwatching, picking a new lifer in Brnoze-winged Jacana.
The Khao Yai valley would be beautiful part of Thailand if it were not for the Eurocentric resorts - Toscana Valley and Chateaux de Khao Yai are just two of the worst ones. Bad taste has no limits.
It is also 50-100% more expensive than other parts of Thailand we have visited.
