Sauk River Rail Trail and a High Trestle Bonus
Another exceptional day of cycling here in Iowa. Today’s target was the Sauk River Trail which goes from Carroll up to Lake View. As the weather was sketchy, we opted to start from Breda and make our way north.
Once we reached Lake View we then noticed some signs for the Blackhawk Lake Trail so off we went. This trail basically weaves itself around the lake on a few paths and quiet roads.
Then we found ourselves back on the Sauk River trail heading south. Seemingly endless corn fields lined the path and we soon found ourselves back in Breda and as we hadn’t cycled enough, we just kept going south. Lots of wind turbines greeted us as very few other Trail users.
Excellent day of cycling and we can certainly recommend this trail.
Our second, although much shorter ride was to see the High Trestle Bridge towards evening and as a preparation for tomorrow’s cycling. This was simply artwork done magnificently. What a treat!
