Root River Trail
What a fantastic ride today - excellent trail, fall foliage, true rail trail with no traffic, quaint little towns, and a little cat and mouse with some rolling thunder that never quite caught us.

The Root River Trail meanders alongside the Root River although we only saw it from time to time. We started in Fountain and went 20 miles east before turning around. The trail was in good shape with crunching leaves and we only saw an occasional cyclist. The leaves were starting to turn so we had some excellent scenery as well.
This is an area where several trails exist and it definitely deserves a return trip.
