Cycle day 3 - Bentota to Galle
**** JUST A NOTE ABOUT MY TYPING FROM NOW ON - MY KEYBOARD IS PLAYING UP AND TENDS TO DOUBLE THE LETTERS AT THE START OF A WORD - PLEASE IGNORE THIS AS TO CORRECT IT TAKES ME 3 TIMES AS LONG TO DO THIS BLOG HENCE I HAVE GIVEN UP CORRECTING IT! ****
Bentota to Galle = 59km (Total distance on this trip so far = 162km)
Weather = last nights low was 21 degrees with todays high 31 degrees. Partly cloudy with no winds until we hit the bottom south corner - southerly.
Accomodation = Villa Laliz = 2450 rupees ($13.10 Oz)
Not a great nights sleep last night - there was a compressor going for 10 seconds every 30 seconds! Yeah needless to say last nights accomodation got a very bad review from me this afternoon.
Got another early start this morning around 7am, breakfast was papaya and bananas and once we got back to the main road we got 2 sweet buns each this time from a real local baker and not from a local western style baker! The road was quiet at first and between the numerous towns we went through it was relatively quiet unless going through the shopping precinct.
One thing to note - from this area and south was hit hardest by the December 26 2004 Tsunami so there are lots of pockets of graves or memorials. I suppose there were thousands of locals killed and if their bodies were recovered they would have just buried them where they were found.
Just down the rroad at Kosgoda we visited tthe Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project wwhere tthey hatch 3 types oof turtles and kkeep ssome aand rrelease the rrest out in tthe sea.
