A Day to Stroll Through Copenhagen

We decided to get off the beaten track and take a bus and stroll through a neighbourhood known for cycling and outdoor shops. We discovered great food, interesting bikes and met an advocate for cycling in Copenhagen and member of the Board of the Danish Cycling Federation. All in all, an interesting day.

The train we took in to Copenhagen - a "bike train"

Christian at the Danish Cycling Federation - he was most helpful. We enjoyed talking to him about how cycling has become such an integral part of the city. He had lived in Victoria, British Columbia near our home on Saltspring Island. It's such a small world - he is close friends with a couple who ride Ice Trikes and are from Vancouver - we have read their journals and looked at their bikes with interest as we have considered trikes for future tours.

The Danish Cycling Federation headquarters and shop. We bought DCF maps here for our journey through the rest of Denmark.

Smorebrods - a Danish specialty. We found this wonderful cafe near the Cycling Federation and ate 3 between us. Delicious.

Nissan was showing that with this all electric car, there would be no use for gas pumps. They offered this creative solution to power a keyboard.

A cut away on the vehicle to show the workings of the electric car.

Nissan was featuring a fully electric car for people to test ride. Barry was walking by and was offered a free coffee - which he readily accepted. However, first they wanted him to fill in a release for insurance and a copy of his driver license. Long story short, he didn't get a free coffee. Nonetheless, we are intrigued by a car that has no dependence on fuel.
