How high the water got in floods. Notice 2002 way at top about 20 ft.
Garbage can made from crankshaft, propane tank, etc
I was up on the 7th floor at the hotel and it was very quiet in the back. I slept well.
We didn’t get going until 9:30 today as we had a 3:30 tour in Terezin near the end. Another lovely ride paralleling the Labe (Elbe) river. We stopped in a delightful and scenic town in the middle for coffee and a snack. There were some times along the river when it was very quiet. There wasn’t any traffic noise or industry. We went past some hops farms which they grow vertically on strings. It isn’t easy to get a good picture. No one seemed to be too tired after the first day. We were still a bit wobbly sometimes.
Transition:
The tour was of a Nazi concentration camp which was not a death camp as I understood it ahead of time. I had not heard of the place, and did not presume it to be one of the notorious and infamous camps. It did seem to be very bad but not gruesome. After we had been there for an hour, I realized I had heard of it by the Nazi name Theresienstadt. I saw it all differently then. Much of the camp had existed prior to the Nazis. In fact, Princip, the guy infamous for shooting Archduke Franz Josef, was imprisoned there until he died in 1918.
I had trouble id'ing birds today: Gray Partidge, Grey Heron, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Eurasian Blackbird, black redstart are all maybe except Heron. Also only Great Cormorants here.
Beds in the nice part
