birding day 3
We have been driving all around Sevilla Province and today we crossed into Extremadura. It is very hot and dry here. There is a drought. They grow Olives, almonds, rice and cotton here. Spain provides most of Europe's rice typically. This year, I am told, they planted only 30% of the hectares due to the drought.
We started early as we needed to drive far and try to see Bustards. We succeeded in seeing the Great Bustard but not the other one. They were pretty far away and not too satisfying a view. We continued our search for birds of prey and found Montagu's Harrier as well as others we had seen before. Most of the little perching birds are extremely hard to see. They do not come out into the open.

My hopes were met. I had hoped to get 40 new birds on the trip and have at least 55. Some ID's are pending.
My guide brought me to the hotel in Sevilla. Our trip meeting has been delayed due to travel problems.
