There was lots of road kill. I saw skunks, raccoons, and an oposum. This was a pig. I wouldn't want to meet it while hiking I the woods.

Not very pleasant, but the shoulder was wide and in good shape.

I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. It got colder during the night and I progressively added more layers. I ended up half inside the mummy part of my sleep system.

I got up at 5:45 and started putting away stuff in my tent. I was done by about 6:15, so started setting up breakfast. We boiled pots of water for coffee, tea, and oatmeal. Arlen showed me how to use their French Press. We were ready before 7:00 and I was able to eat while others ate and got their breakfast.

I took a PBJ sandwich, apple, and trail mix for the road. By the time we cleaned up breakfast and I took down my tent, etc, it was about 9:00. I tried to get some batteries for my headlamp in the camp store, but no one came to check me out.

I did not maintain my chain after the rain, though hose my bike off. So, there was a little rust on the chain. I thought it might be o.k. to ride, but it was noisy and perhaps a bit squeaky. I had packed Silca Synergy lube and a microfiber cloth so I could oil it. I pulled off at a gas station and oiled it. It was a lot quieter. I will have to use that until I switch chains. JW is going use his chain, which he now gave the same treatment, until we are past the rainy areas.

I got riding for earnest about 9:30. I felt good, with none of the hamstring tightness from the previous day. It was little cool (I saw 41 on my head unit). I wore a vest, a long-sleeve Canari shirt, sun sleeves under the jersey, tights, my merino wool neck gaiterand the Salsa vest. I work he medium Perlizumi gloves. I was fine when I got started riding.

Most of the ride was on FL route 98. It was similar to 27, but perhaps with less traffic. I caught up with a group of 5 (P, JW, BW, JE, S) passed them. It was a little rude, but I was feeling good and going slow makes me have more trouble with my setter. I saw their blinking light for a long time. Bill and JW had been shopping, and caught up with the others not long before I caught up.

At about noon I stopped at Ouzts' Too Oyster Bar & Grill because I wanted some oysters. The others joined a little later. I ordered oysters and an order of boiled peanuts. The latter weren't my favorite. The oysters were good, but the breading was a little heavy for my taste.

We continued on and I rode with the group. P led and I talked mostly with JE. It was largely on a bike path.

We stayed at the Best Western Wakulla Inn and Suites. BW and JW made dinner, chile. It hit the spot. It was cold outside so we ate inside. I am rooming with BW.

At the map meeting they announced that we can take a 'boost' of about 20 miles. Otherwise the ride is 86 miles and the forecast temperature is 31 at 8 am. I  think I will try to ride.

I spent a lot of time organizing and labeling my things and getting ready for tomorrow. I am going to wear leg warmers under my tights, the Veloccio took base layer, a Canari long-sleeve cjacket, my heavy gloves and ear covers.

Today's ride: 55 miles (89 km)
Total: 259 miles (417 km)

Kelly IniguezIt's not rude to pass people. Everyone has their own speed. I do think it's rude to pass without some sort of greeting. My opinion. I get passed a lot - but I always get to town in time for a shower before dinner. That's the important part!

I'm looking forward to see how your day goes.
