Many miles of US Route 90. Much of the shoulder was quite smooth, and there was a tailwind.

Lots of this too. On 4 lane sections I mostly rode in the right lane as the shoulder outside the rumble strip wasn't that wide.

J&P Bar and Grill in Comstack. I had a very good Devil's Grilled Chicken sandwich (jalapeño mayo and cheese).

Our destination. It was an easy 10 mile ride (downhill, smooth roads, and a tailwind) from Comstock.

Seminole Canyon. There are pictographs, but I didn't take the time to go on the guided hike.

After dinner I walked about 3 miles round trip to a CVS to get some large Tegaderm for the road rash on my hip. I got to bed about 9:30 and got out of bed about 6:15. I felt well rested. It takes a lot less time to get ready in a hotel room than camping. That was nice.

I at the usual (oatmeal) for breakfast and packed a PBJ sandwich for lunch. I also took a kind bar and had a cliff bar already with me. I discovered that my rear tire was soft, but the bead was still seated. I did a close inspection and found a piece of glass in it. I took it out and there was a little wetness around the hole. The tire is starting to have a square section, so I should probably change it. I pumped it up to 75 as a precaution and it seemed to hold pressure. I also had some problem with my Karoo. When I tried to load the ride it said the map wasn't downloaded. I wondered if it needed to load some part of a map of Mexico. I connected it to my phone and it eventually succeeded. I didn't leave until a few minutes after 9:00. I wasn't in a hurry as it was a little cold and it was a short day.

I hammered to Comstock, averaging 16.8 mph. The road was smooth, there was a bit of a tailwind, and the hills were mostly rollers. Type 1 fun. There was a Border Patrol checkpoint, but they waved me right through. I guess I didn't look like a coyote.

In Comstock I stopped at the only eating establishment J&P Bar and Grill. It didn't look like much, but I had a really good grilled chicken sandwich with waffle-cut sweet potato fries. Most of the rest of the guys joined and we had a long lunch.

After lunch it was 10 miles to the campground. It was a really easy ride. It felt mostly downhill and there was a tailwind. I didn't ride that hard. Overall I averaged 117 W and my NP was 134 W. My butt and feet felt great. It was a fun ride.

We had BBQed chicken, potato salad, baked beans, and salad for dinner. It was good, and I am full.

Tomorrow we ride 81 miles. BD will meet us with the van at about miles 30 and 60 to resupply as there are no services along the route. We are staying in a Baptist church tomorrow, and they are making dinner for us. We are supposed to have a good tailwind, and it will be cold in the morning.

Today's ride: 40 miles (64 km)
Total: 1,688 miles (2,717 km)
