I didn't sleep well again because of my cold. It was down in the thirties. I had to get inside the mummy bag under my quilt, but after that was quite comfortable. I woke up at 5:15 and couldn't get back to sleep. Because it was cold, no one was in a hurry to leave. I left about 8:40. I stopped at a Dollar General in Ville Platte and got some batteries (I left my headlamp on last night), a small box of tissues, and some diphenhydramine. I was able to smash the tissues into the seat bag.

There were lots of rice/crawdad along the way. Apparently they grow them in the same field. We saw some people checking their crawfish pots. They use either boats that they pull along manually or mechanical crawlers.

BD suggested stopping at the Krazy Cajun Café in Mamou, and so all of us did that. I got there about 11:00 and DS and BF arrived shortly after and we ate together. I got a grilled shrimp po' boy and some fried jalapeños.They were good, but I was disappointed that there wasn't anything that was real cajun food. After lunch there was about 25 miles left. BW got in front of me while I took some pictures. I rode a little harder than I wanted to catch him and then we rode the last 8 or 9 miles together. My average speed went less than 16 before lunch to 16.3.

When I got in I ate my sandwich, set up my tent, and took a shower. The handle bars on my bike had rotated down. I think that is because they were rotated in my minor crash on Dauphin Island, and when I adjusted them back them back, I didn't have a torque wrench and so don't thinK I tightened it enough. It seemed that it has rotated down again. It was a little awkward riding today, so I straighten it again. If found a torque wrench and so hopefully it will stay. I also wiped down my chain. The chain still seems quiet so I don't think I will lube it again.

We are staying in the field behind the Oberlin tourism office. The president of the VFW made chicken and turkey gumbo, rice, potato salad, and brownies for us. It was very good. I am not all that hungry. I feel kind of crappy with the cold. It has got to my lungs and I feel like I might have a little fever.

Tomorrow looks windy again and it looks like there is a headwind. Saturday looks like rain. I have to cook tomorrow, but it seems that the Merryville Historical Society is providing lunch and dinner for us. I am considering not riding tomorrow depending how I feel.

Today's ride: 47 miles (76 km)
Total: 977 miles (1,572 km)
