Rodeo day

Erin volunteers at the Judith Basin Museum but mostly works on her ranch. She spoke so movingly about the road from Kalispell to Libby that I’ve decided to route that way

Nobody locks their bike in Stanford

Roping training starts early

As part of the renovations the arena was rotated such that the stands would be completely in the shade from 1 to 4 pm the third week in July. The math worked out perfectly

Pre-rodeo prayer followed by the national anthem

Ladies barrel racing

Bareback riding

Tie down roping

Saddle bronco riding

Team roping

Mutton busting. Children hang on as long as they can while the sheep run around the arena. It was a real crowd pleaser!

Bull riding is saved for last. It was hard to get pictures, most riders were tossed almost immediately
