Munderkinggen to Ulm: A date with Mr Gortex...again!!!
We started out this morning cycling with a nice couple from Switzerland, who were on their way to Prague, spending six weeks in the saddle. They did the trip we are doing two years ago, so it was great talking to them about their trip. We stopped in Ehingen briefly, which is another delightful town. It is so neat to cycle through these villages, with their narrow cobblestone streets. Next was Blaubeuren, where we stopped for coffee, and ended up having lunch at an amazing restaurant with the best looking baked goods...so tempting. This town has the famous Blautopf, a huge natural limestone cistern, which we visited. After leaving Blaubeuren, the weather turned to hell!!! It stared raining harder that we have had, with wind mixed in for added comfort. Out came the ever dependable Mr Gortex. Jane, fyi, our Shimano shoes are NOT water proof! Fortunately, the scenery was still wonderful, but we called it a day in Ulm, the birthplace of Einstein. Ulm is a larger city than we had expected, and although very nice, we both prefer the smaller villages. Well, it's 8:56, so lights out and tomorrow "the wheels on the bike will go round and round".
