Around Lake Ranco: Flat? Not so much.

Today was a ride around three quarters of Lago/Lake Ranco. While there were no long climbs in today’s ride we still managed 3200ft in only 64km. One perceives that riding around a lake should be flat, oh contraire it is not. We had constant rolling hills for the entire distance. As mentioned they were not super long but I lost count of how many times I had a dead man’s click and how often I saw 10-13% grades on my Garmin. The worst of the rollers hit 18% for a short time. I don’t want to sound whiny because while it was a challenge I enjoyed the ride. The scenery has changed a little with more pasture land and of course the lake. When started out there was some low cloud and a little drizzle but soon the sky cleared and we had sunshine. The temperature was lower today which was also a welcome relief since we didn’t start riding until noon because we had a 2 hour van transfer to avid anothe section of the national highway. We have one night in this location in very modern hotel which is quite a contrast from the last 2 nights.

The hotel tower in which our room was located. I could spend a week in this place there is so much to see and do.

Somethings are still done the old way here. Splitting wood and hauling it around by oxen pulling a trailer.

These hilly roads are used for timed hill climbs, These words mark the end of such a climb.

Had a flat today. Fortunately the driver and van were nearby so I was fixed in a hurry.
