Apr 21 - A Real Ride on a Real Highway: Jibacoa to Santa Cruz del Norte and back
WE DECIDED to cycle to San Cruz to visit with Adrian. Initially we cycled along the garbage-laden seaside and meandered through the back streets of Santa Cruz which we had not seen much of before. We ended up running into Peter Paul - another of the entertainment staff from the resort. After a short chat with him along came another friend who had a really nice carbon fibre bike with Campy components which had been brought in by a friend from Italy. This guy on the bike organizes local races in Santa Cruz so has a number of cycling connections. He even asked us if we wanted a tour of the area on our bikes, but we thanked him and said no thanks for now. Then we said good-bye and headed over to Adrian's.
What a great job he has done on his house. He has added more to the roof, a balcony and has finished many of the rooms. It was really nice and quite pleasant to be up on the roof to overlook the town and the ocean. He is doing well and his computer business seems to be doing extremely well. His office is better than mine in terms of the computer technology and gadgets.
We did not want to keep him on his day off so we headed back into the wind to the resort and were back well before noon.
The rest of the day was a quiet one which we spent at the pool, reading and eating!
