Day 8 - St-Martin-de-Ré to Landrais

I was still not in great shape, but we had to get back to the car somehow. After debating the various alternatives, I decided to "just ride".
We rode back to La Rochelle, which we really liked. The center of the city seemed almost car-free. The cycling infrastructure was great, and the city itself has lots of activity and seemed really well taken care of.
We rode to the Chateau de Buzay for a lunch stop. There were no towns of any size on our route today, so we picnicked outside the castle gate. It was Monday and the castle was closed.
I definitely did not feel like riding today!
And it seemed like the roads were never-ending.
But I got my reward. We stayed in "Le Clos de Landrais" and the owner cooked dinner for us. All I had to do was sit in the garden and veg out! We highly recommend this Chambre d'Hote if you are in the neighborhood.
Today's ride: 56 km (35 miles)
Total: 341 km (212 miles)
