Day 2. Not all days are sunny. Or without headwinds

Today’s ride was going to hurt plenty with headwinds of speeds from 15 to 20. And at 10:00 not that I mean to complain we’re going to get some serious rain.

Lots of room in the converted school bus it could even fit my bike which is a real plus

Riding through Gainesville my headlight shone bright. With it on I felt the cars could see me alright. Although at every intersection I felt kind of a slight as I had to stop at all but one stoplight.

Whether you’re a believer or not, you have to admit the architecture on this church is rather “lit”

Gregory GarceauAnd the Spanish moss is rather "boss."

This irrigation canal I had to cross, and then I rolled under lovely Spanish moss

About 90 minutes after my departure, I rolled into the small hamlet of Archer. With the clouds looking ominous, I began to worry, but what could I do? Could I hurry? I could not beat the rain to my destination so I figured I should make the best of my situation. I put on my windbreaker and kept on spinning as the chances of me not getting wet were rapidly thinning.

The clouds just beginning to look rather sketch, but there’s nothing that I can do on this roadway stretch

Just when I thought I had no more to lose, the rain soaked my socks and ran down into my shoes

Pushing on through riding through the wind and rainy morass, my GPS turned me left where I faced a gate and a sign, “no trespass”. So I checked apple map asap. My search for a detour was not in vain although it did take me 30 miles on a divided four lane.

I made it across Florida to this body of water, although, I still call it the Gulf of Mexico

Gregory GarceauWith that kind of talk you won't be invited to be an Oval Office reporter. Instead you might be a victim of The Heartless Deporter.

After 5:47 hours I reached my destination I checked into the hotel using my reservation. I made 74.62 miles through the headwinds and I’m feeling quite proud. Can I round up to 75, is that allowed?

Today's ride: 75 miles (121 km)
Total: 153 miles (246 km)

Bill ShaneyfeltOr for the purist, just ride a few laps of the parking lot to get the odometer reading? :-)

I'd just call it good.

Paul MulveyTo Bill ShaneyfeltThanks - with rounding up 75 is what I got. And I didn’t have to circle the parking lot ;-)
