Furadouro to Ilhavo

We set off this morning early enough to make sure we caught the ferry at 11:40.  The ride today was very flat and even a little down wind.  We rode along inland waterways more than the coast line but it wasn’t far away.  We stopped a lovely village for a serious fish/seafood lunch before heading off to our final destination for tonight.  We ate at a lovely 5* hotel in a very small town so you know it is downhill from here.  Today is a national holiday so we settled for food at the hotel.  We did take time to visit a famous porcelain factory here in Ílhavo, Tim even had some retail therapy.

Todays route.

I went for a walk before breakfast and took a few photos. Furadouro’s route are in fishing so there is the lovely rock monument on the walkway next to the ocean.

Later we rode across this bridge which is actually an A highway but there is a bike path on the side so you don’t have to use the road.

There are multiple stork nests around the porcelain factory. I couldn’t see the chicks but I could here them.

The old porcelain factory, now a museum and shop. The new one is just down the road.

Inside the kiln where the porcelain is fired in the barrel like structures.

An example of the porcelain. This is commemorative plate with Vasco da Gama’s coat of arms and signature. If you remember your grade 4 history you will know he was a famous Portuguese explorer.
