Back to Sintra

Today was our last full day in Portugal so we returned to Sintra to see the town and the famous Pena Palace that dates back to the 12th century as a convent but later became a palace to the king of Portugal.  Destroyed in the 1755 earthquake it was rebuilt and is still being renovated.  We travelled there by subway, train and bus all taking almost 2.5hrs.  The crowds were significant but we did see everything.  The trip back was a little quicker.  Once back we had supper, I packed for my 5am departure.  I

Part of the palace as we entered.
