We had a relaxing day including a massage at the hotel and then returned to Lisbon late afternoon.  We are now settled into our Air B&B for the next 3 nights before heading home.  Tim cooked pasta for us tonight which was a nice treat from restaurant food.  More touring of Lisbon tomorrow.

Last look at the coast this am. During the first French invasion (1807 to 1808), British troops landed on this beach, between 20th and 21st August 1808, to join the Anglo-Portuguese army positioned around Vimeiro. The French troops, aware of this disembarking, marched to Vimeiro to prevent the reinforcements. On 27st August 1808 (Fig. 4), the Battle of Vimeiro took place, with the Anglo-Portuguese army defeating the French army. This battle put an end to the first French invasion.
