Day 7-8: Klipchuck Campground to Winthrop

Day seven and eight are sort of rest days. I biked to Mazama from the Klipchuck campground and met with friends of a friend who heard about my trip and are offering to let me stay with them in Winthrop. Thank you for your generosity, Kari and Galen.

It is Memorial Day weekend and Winthrop is positively buzzing with start of summer energy. I think it definitely helped that it was forecast to be at least partly sunny on this side of the past well, the western side of the cascades is still getting rain.

Winthrop is not quite what I was expecting. It’s a meeting of outdoor adventure enthusiasts with an old west aesthetic. This is a beautiful part of the state that I’d love to spend more time in.
