Day 125: Thomas Point Beach to Duck Puddle Campground

I stopped at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath and took a shipbuilding/nature cruise along the Kennebec River. This is a view of a sculpture of the Wyoming from the tour boat. This was the largest wooden boat ever built, launched in 1909 and sailed until 1924.

The wooden shipbuilders went away after the early 1900s. But Bath Iron Works, started in the 1880s, is keeping the shipbuilding tradition going. They’re currently under contract with the Navy to produce destroyers for their fleet.
