Day 102: Berkley to Sterling State Park

Progress is coming along on the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Hopefully it’ll have a bike/pedestrian crossing area so non-motorized crossers will have a way between Detroit and Windsor!

Image not found :( — Michigan’s Lake Erie shoreline isn’t its most celebrated. I imagine the industrial history and current presence of things like these smokestacks contribute to its less-than-idyllic reputation. In the foreground is highly biologically productive wetland, which has been restored in recent years.

I hadn’t heard a whole lot about Monroe County, in Michigan’s southeastern corner. It’s steeped in history and home to many historic buildings, including the Monroe County Courthouse shown here
