There is a visitor center next to the I10 freeway on the border between Texas and Louisiana. It can only be reached using the I10. That makes it legal to cycle on that part of the freeway.

But street view showed that the shoulder was very narrow, making it quite dangerous. And that the noise from the traffic would have been very unpleasant.

So I took a long detour onto smaller roads.

There are these parking isles in Sulphur, Louisiana, that look exactly like sidewalks.

In one direction, you travel over the draw bridge. In the other, you travel over the bridge that's high enough for ships to go under.
