This morning I heard on the radio that our region has suffered a significant increase in food insecurity.  My daughter is studying anthropology.  She asked one of her professors, "Is there a species that provides basic needs for each other better than humans?" 

"Vampire Bats.  If one is hungry, another will spit the food out of its own mouth to feed the hungry one." 

Vampire bats, symbols of evil, don't allow hunger.  Among species since life began, where does humanity rank in the hierarchy of good and evil?
