Denison's claim to fame is that Donna Reed was born and raised there.  That's one of the reasons I planned a day off in Denison: I wanted to spend time in the Donna Reed theater and foundation (of course it was temporarily closed--classic Brown family travel experience).  Anyway, community is one of the messages promoted by the town, based in part on a theme of the movie It's a Wonderful Life.  

Community is also an emerging theme from the interviews I have done with homeless/previously homeless persons.  Of course, one reason they become homeless is that they lost their community, however, once homeless, many of them develop community among themselves.  They help each other.  

Like George Bailey, I believe communities are healthier and happier when all members' basic needs are met, including housing.  Decades of data analysis supports this.  Turns out, 80 years ago, Frank Capra got it right.
