Nova Mesto to Dolenjske Toplice
We have time to kill before we get to Ljubljana, but we were feeling ready to leave Novo Mesto so we packed up this morning and headed 16km down the Krka river to Dolenjske Toplice, mostly chosen because it had a campground.
It wasn't raining when we set off, but it certainly wasn't very warm. I chose a scenic route that ended up including a fair bit of gravel and was flooded over a few times, only once seriously enough to force us to turn back. We had one coffee stop for our bakery snacks, but probably should have gone indoors because we were all pretty cold when we got started again.
We pulled into Kamp Polje just before lunch. Reception wasn't open so we just headed for the furthest away pitch and got the tent up so Tobias could have his nap. It's a nice wee camp spot. We are the only people in tents, but there are 8 big spaces reserved for camping so we don't feel crammed into a big parking lot. There is also a big covered area to cook, and a washer and dryer. We spent more on these than we did on the camping, but after all the wet weather we were pretty desperate for some clean clothes and nappies and have been really lacking any way to dry them.
In the afternoon we got on the bikes and headed into the township about a kilometre away and went to the big pools here. Most of the outdoor pools were closed, but being indoors and in warm water was a good option for today. It's not exactly raining, but everything is pretty damp. Kind of like we are in a cloud. It will be pretty cold overnight, especially with the damp, but we are due some sunshine tomorrow apparently which will be welcome!
