To Blois
Well, OK. I’m glad to see that we slowed down to take in the sights for at least part of this tour. We took a leisurely three days for our ride to Blois, with overnights in Azay-le-Rideau, Amboise, and finally Blois. This is such an amazing stretch - chateau, chateau, chateau, chateau. They’re all magnificent in their own way, of course. I remember being especially stunned by the garden at Villandry, but my most vivid memory is in Langleis, where it poured for awhile and we hid out under the entrance staircase, trapped behind a phalanx of bikes feom a commercial tour group.
It’s a shame that so few photos survived, and a bit shocking to me to find none at all from Azay, one of my favorites. I certainly took quite a few, and we even spent the night there! it’s also surprising that no photos from inside the chateaus survived, because we took tours of all of them. Sloppy work by the Team Anderson archivist.
