Day 90-94: Livingstone
From Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) to Livingstone (Zambia) is only ~10km. Just the other side of the falls. You get a glimpse of the falls from the bridge over the Zambezi River and pass the bungee jumpers to cross the border. It’s a pretty impressive gorge taking the river downstream - even without the falls.
What’s more impressive is the bicycle couriers taking the crossing ~10 times per day. One guy was transporting scrap metal. On a bicycle. Others had 8 or more crates of beer bottles strapped to their bike. They carry sheets of paper for the immigration entry and exit stamps.
New Years eve in Livingstone. Found a cheap hostel where Yousef and Nadine (Moroccan & German cyclist heading into Botswana) were staying. Met up with another cyclist, Adam from Brazil / Europe also heading north and Kris, another Brazilian (not cycling), for a New Years Eve feed. We helped each other stay awake until midnight to see the locals setting off fireworks in the street.
