Day 84-85: Nata

Christmas break

We decided to camp in the backpackers in Nata, hosted by Rupert. And luckily we did because there was a wonderful group of people staying for Christmas. Most of the day was spent collecting, cooking and eating too much food (including baking cookies on the fire).

2 German couples overlanding in a Unimog and a Defender (that’s a significantly different way to do this trip – but if you want to buy a 40 year old Unimog in Cape Town, now’s your chance at only €55k. Better to buy it than ship one to/from Germany for ~€15k). More Europeans: a Polish lady looking to hitch a lift on a yacht to South America. A Swiss couple surfing around Africa. A South Africa motorcyclist. Good fun, plenty of talking and a general festive atmosphere.

Wasn’t much of a rest day through – we were kept busy all day. Meant we needed another day off the bike to fix a flat tyre and wash some clothes.

I don’t think we even took any photos – too busy talking.

Tent, got wet.
