In St. Etienne
The weather looked poor in the morning - vey grey, with rain feeling imminent. It felt like a foolish day to start out on an eight hour hike along a mountain crest, with it very easy imagine getting caught in a blinding rainstorm or getting caught out in the open exposed to lighting. We scrapped the planned hike and decided to walk back to town along the road instead. Notes from the day:
- We walked back to Saint Jean along roads, mostly staying dry, and enjoying views of Iruleguy’s vineyards.
- From Saint Jean we cycled back to Saint Etienne, staying this time at a different hotel at the other, more interesting part of town.
- The weather improved so we spent the afternoon in a pretty creekside park, relaxing and reading in the sun, enjoying a backdrop of sycamores and an acutely arched footbridge across the creek.
- We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a three star hotel across the stream from the hotel.
