Day 41 - Nice to Sanremo
Wow, what a day! Maybe the most beautiful of the trip so far. Great weather, incredible views, no calamities.
The sun shone as we climbed out of Nice. It was a pretty spicy climb too, from sea level up to about 650 metres in not very many kilometres. There were some crazy 10%+ sections I had to push for a little while, but most of it was really enjoyable, and there were lots of lycra lads bombing down and flying up to share it with.
The clouds were warm in the cooler mountain air, a little puff of steam.
The views were incredible, the sea looked so inviting in its myriad blues and greens. The descent back down to the sea was fun too - not too steep!
So far, Italy has made a great impression. The weather helps, but the landscape, the sea, the people, the atmosphere, all good so far. We stopped for a drink and wi-fi, and were given a free plate of delicious snacks! We don't speak any Italian, which is a bit embarrassing, but the warm welcome is making us keen to learn.
