A Rest Day in Rosenheim

We are staying in a brand new B&B hotel in Rosenheim, directly at the train station. This will be convenient for us as we will be leaving Rosenheim by train. We have decided to stay here for an extra night so that we can sightsee and wander the town.

We have really enjoyed our time here. Rosenheim has truly given us a Bavarian experience.

We were hungry for some good German food so we picked the busiest restaurant in the old town in Rosenheim. We were not disappointed. We tried one of Rosenheim's local dark beers.

Barry's favourite german dish-roasted pig knuckle. This one was cooked in a dunkel (dark beer) sauce, two types of dumplings and a cabbage coleslaw with pieces of ham. It was superb.

Mary Ellen had a specialty of the region- Brotzeitbrettss'l

Gasthuas zum Stockhammer was a great choice for lunch. It was a warm fall day and everyone was eating outside. We preferred eating inside as it had much more authentic Bavarian atmosphere

Hotzinger Beer is one of the two beers brewed in Rosenheim

Rosenheim has a number of traditional Bavarian clothing stores. A complete outfit could cost between 1500 and 2000 euros.

We see a lot of people in Bavaria dressed in their traditional clothing. People dress like this when they attend beer festivals like Oktoberfest in Munich and also on special occasions like weddings, birthdays,etc.

We found a shop that sold the fabric for women's Bavarian traditional clothing.

We were surprised to see another dutch made Radical Design trailer. Miac has had his trailer for over ten years. We had lovely talk with Miac and his very friendly dog, Cairo. We got an email from Miac inviting us to have lunch at his home tomorrow but unfortunately we have to take a train tomorrow. It would have been nice to have more time to visit with Miac.

Rosenheim has a beautiful park filled with interesting sculptures

Our dinner in our room was far more humble than our lunch. The two beers are from the other brewery in town.
