Yangjing to Markham: Road notes III
Yangjing Checkpoint: Pass the checkpoint in early morning; there are two
checkpoints, each side of town, 3 km apart.
First one just after bend in road, lit up at night
Police station in middle of village, lots of dogs awaken
Second checkpoint followed by downhill
Peter C left camp at 0400, no problems

3309 (2600m) First checkpoint, keep right
3313 Second checkpoint, 4 km downhill
3317 Low point near Mekong river
3355 (4270m) Kung La (shops in village near pass), very limited
12km downhill with good camping available
3370 (3600m) Low point
3372 Friendly Monastery (English sign) Did not visit
3395 Nasty village, stone throwers (we had no problem)
3419 Good camp spot 5 km before Markham
3424 (4000m) Outskirts of Markham
