To McBride: Bearview campground
Nothing new, it rains most of the night. Our tent is a good one and keeps us dry, even though most things feel damp after all this rain. Just before we get up, the rain stops. The lake has steam rising from it and some mountain peaks are visible to the South. We pack up our wet tent and slip our wet bike shoes back on. It's a push back to the road, we have to walk part of it, but the nice camp spot made it worthwhile.
The road is still wet, but it does not rain on us and there even is some sun that feels so good. At a high bridge over a river, we stop for some lunch and partially dry out the tent. Thirty more km mostly gradually up or down and we reach McBride. We ride into town to check out the visitor information center at the train station and also check our email. Larry Craig, our Senator, has resigned being caught in an airport bathroom soliciting. Nathan has received and backed up all the DVD's sent from Whitehorse and Hyder. The photo mail system has worked very well on this trip. We do some shopping and fill up our gas bottle on the way out of town. The campground is another 2 km.
There is a large grass area to camp and sun has come out to cry out all our gear. After a nice shower, Rachel does laundry so all our wet stuff from yesterday is clean and dry again. Spaghetti with red meat sauce and corn again for tonight's dinner. Clouds have moved back in during the afternoon, hopefully it stays dry overnight and we get some good views of the mountain tomorrow.
