Rest Day Tiger Leaping Gorge: Hiking into the Gorge
A typical rest day.
Up early, breakfast of banana pancake, fried egg, scrambled egg and "Naxi" bread (like a pita bread); laundry done by Patrick then we ride our bikes to Tina's GH (3km) to hike into the gorge to the middle rapids....a 3 hour hike.
It's a private trail and there is a 10 yuan entrance fee, the trail is well made and maintained and the views are awesome. We descend all the way to the river where a huge rock in the river is said to be the one where the tiger leapt across the gorge. We rest for a while, take pictures and head back up. We have lunch at Tina's then ride back to our hotel in Walnut Grove. Patrick spent the afternoon patching three inner tubes and changes his front tire to a new one.
We eat at Woody's and spend a pleasant evening talking with a Swedish couple that have traveled and worked all over the world. The woman once drove a VW van from Sweden all the way to China....In the early seventies of course.
