Bogor: Exploring
We are able to eat breakfast, then set off to find the botanical gardens and explore. Outside the gate Patrick bargains for 2 ball caps. We have both lost our nice Columbia hats from REI.
The gardens in some areas seem in disrepair. LP says they are heavily visited on Sundays. We find an old Dutch cemetery and recognize two backpackers also Dutch and staying at Abu Penisone. Then a Dutch tour group is also there. The Dutch have a strong colonial history with Indonesia. The bamboo growing in the garden is huge. We wander around looking for the orchid house, we finally find it, but it is closed. We wander on to the cafe on the grounds and we share a banana split. We can always eat ice cream.
We go to the supermarket and buy a quarter of a watermelon, water, cookies and head back to the hotel. This is lunch. Later we go to a cafe and have a chicken and mushroom pizza and share a Bintang beer--the first since Bali. Recovery is improving.
