jan 16- Cha Am rest day #1
Nun also, drei Tage Cha Am.
Three days in Cha Am.
Cha Am Beach is extremely popular with Bangkokians. Every weekend masses fall in to have sanuk/fun, hanging off under umbrellas in deckchairs on the beach and killing tons of fresh seafood, while the kids are having fun in the shallow sea.
Weekdays Cha Am is more or less deserted, just some elder western couples are strolling up and down the beach.
I stand a little beside my shoes today- jetlag is to blame. At five in the morning I took a very special medicine, beer Leo, and I managed to get sleep until 11h. With the help of sweet coffee- the only one available in the resort- and a swim in the pool I managed to get myself going.
It is not my first visit to Cha Am, but I have not seen the beach as deserted before. I remember miles and miles of umbrellas and deckchairs. Maybe the recently installed „ smoking at the beach ban“ is to blame.

Rotting squid sculture- Mrhhg in Thai- at the end of a rotting pier at the north end of Cha Am. The condoms- short for condominiums- in the distance are rotting as well. They are deserted and not taken care of, the investors have moved on to new business opportunities.

Nareusuam Memorial Park. Must have had „beans in the ears“ if he wanted to have a good sleep in the morning with all those roosters around him (attention: 112)

Foodie time ! There are millions of seafood places to choose from in Cha Am. But unfortunately almost all of the „proletarian“ eateries just have a comprehensive menu for farangs in english language. I was pleased to find a place that is not shy to offer raw shrimp in lemon or fermented crab meat. I was a bit careful tonight and had crispy seafood salad and Kale in oyster sauce and with a handful of garlic cloves.
