To Villeneuve sur Isere

Last night we had an absolutely delicious meal in the restaurant attached to the hotel.  It is amazing how you can get such quality food in such a tiny place.  The breakfast this morning was of a similar quality and we all had omelettes.  After yesterdays experience with the bridge we were a bit worried about getting over it.  However this morning being Saturday was very quiet and there was no trouble finding the little road that would lead us to the cycle route.  There was a boulangerie on the corner and we were able to bet excellent sandwiches for our lunch. Then it was onto the track and we spun along that was until we came to a fallen tree blocking the path.  There was no way around it but we managed to squeeze ourselves and the bikes under it

Now we came to an area with some really serious industry. The street was called Le Rue de Usine

This factory makes those tiny Aidan cars that so intrigue Ken

The next factory seemed to be assembling Fords - they didn’t seem short of stock

Seems appropriate

Then it was over to the other side.  I certainly dont enjoy the bridges and just wish the route would sray on one side of the river

The land beside the river looks to be extremely fertile.  You pass through an industrial area then you are immediately into wonderful looking orchards  The apricots are just about all picked but there are a few discards under the trees, peaches have a long way to go.  They must get frosts here as we saw the same frost fighting turbines that our niece has in her orchard in Central Otago - there must be a severe winter here

After this we turned  on to the Isere cycle route to find our hotel.  It was given a huge build up, two restaurants, swimming pools, 24hour desk, a bar etc etc.  It had none of these things except the swimming pool and what is more jane had that morning been sent the wrong code to get into this prison.  The nearest town Villeneuve was around 5km away so Jane and Matt got on their bikes and were lucky to find a Boulangerie open late on a sSaturday afternoon.   NEVER contimpate staying at Le domaine d’Agrippa

Today's ride: 54 km (34 miles)
Total: 704 km (437 miles)
