The shake down ride

Everything went well

Somewhat nervously we got our unladen bikes out of the apartment and off we went for a shakedown ride. Through the town square, along the Main Street, through the town gates , across the bumpy old stone bridge and we were soon along the canal. This is the canal we came on in 2019 from Orlean so the bikes know it well. It is the easiest possible ride you could have and I am happy to say on this bike with the battery on the down tube my stability was never challenged. Only a very short ride but we are encouraged

You can see a touring barge in the distance. For the Stoppards the water is high and the canal seems weed free. In our short ride we saw 5 touring boats

We couldn’t find a coffee stop but we had a banana

We really hadn’t deserved it after such a short ride but we walked around the corner fto the lovely square for a late lunch

Then time for a sort out and our usual mail home. The postage probably is more than the things are worth

This place is good particularly its location but has some drawbacks. The washing machine stopped before emptying the water with a full load (that was a wet challenge), the wifi seems be non existent (at least that at makes posts short as I tap on my phone) and the TV doesn’t work
