Reunited with our bikes

Yesterday was a day of travel  A taxi to Portu airport, a flight to Orly Airport and a taxi ride to our hotel near the Gare de Lyon. With all such travel much waiting around

The Gare de Lyon. We stay at the Mercur which is attached to it

Up early and we were on the train to Moret to be met by Louise and Michael, so lovely to see them both. We inspected the bikes which had been in for a thorough tune up, then were taken first to part of a church service where we delighted by the beautiful music and surprised by how young the majority of the congregation seemed. At home our congregations are decidedly aging. After this it was off for an amazing 4 course lunch and then to check into our apartment.  The apartment is great but without wifi so posting a journal using my phone rather a challenge

Now the moment of truth riding them back to the apartment.  It went like a dream. Now a big load of washing and a sort out of cycling gear. We may do a mail home as the Post Office is opposite our apartment. Just around the corner is the town square complete with carousel and we have enjoyed a beer there

We have decided to spend another 2 nights here and will go for local rides just to get used to touring agoin and to be able to see a little more of Louise and Michael

Kathleen ClassenThe words “it went like a dream” were music to me when I read them. A wonderful beginning of this part of the trip.
