It’s a long way to Murcia

The last few days have been a mass of activity as we tried to remember all the things we needed to do before we left.  Poor Miss Puss didn’t sound a bit happy as she went into her cage and out to the cattery.

Having coffee after my last exercise class before we leave

Steve Miller/GrampiesYikes, I understand that none of the bike stuff - like panniers, tools, and such, needed to come, but if this has rain gear, something warm, clothes changes, plus computers, chargers, camera, and the like, that'a pretty good!

Tricia GrahamWe did have one set of papiers and basic tools in that!
We are now cruising up the Duoro tonight we were in Pinhao so was reading with interests you’re cycling here. It certainly looks challenging country from the comfort of our boat. Start cycling next Monday

The  taxi arrived at 9.30 and we were whisked off to the airport.  Our journey is long 17.5 hours Auckland to Doha (thankfully we both slept reasonably well). 3hours wait on the ground then 6.5 hours to Barcelona.  The real killer however was a 6hours wait before our short flight to Alicante where it was so lovely to be met by Jane,Mark and Matthew and driven to Murcia.  We arrived at their apartment 30 hours after leaving home.  We certainly felt we had done enough travelling.

It’s going to be a long flight

Jane and Mark are living in a spacious apartment overlooking the golf course and they have spent a considerable amount of time improving there game!  We went to their local cafe for breakfast and it felt great to be greeted like a local. The boss man even gave us some delicious apricots off his tree in honour of our visit.

About 1pm Matt was home from his football training and the 5 of us went into the old city of Murcia wandering the beautiful car free old centre ending up at a restaurant patronised by locals for a beautiful lunch  We certainly wont need much to eat this evening

Karen PoretI don’t know what is more eye opening..the sword hanging down over the man’s head or the expression on the woman’s face as if to say “what”? :)

Steve Miller/GrampiesSo glad to hear you made it safe, sound, and undoubtedly tired. Enjoy your time with your family. We are just home and the to do list is getting longer by the minute. Ah well, Europe again in 3 months.
