Day 2: Antequera

For myself, this was largely a day of survival.  My cold (which began five days ago) is at its worst, with intermittent chills and cold sweats.  The ride included one long, significant climb over the right shoulder of El Torcal, which I pushed over.

Antequera is very pretty seen from above as we descended toward it, and we enjoyed a walking tour of the town’s highlights.  We arrived in town in time for a late lunch at a sidewalk cafe, and ate from a store for dinner.

The Alcazar, with La Pena del Los Enamorados (lovers leap) rising behind it.

Santa Maria la Major Church, I think.

As much as anything, my memory of La Pena del Los Enamorados rising so abruptly from the surrounding plain brought us back to this lovely city a second time some years later.
